The first specification to examine is not a marketing claim about “large rooms.” It is airflow. A unit must circulate and filter the room’s air often enough to make a meaningful difference during a busy day.
Look for a published clean air delivery rate, commonly called CADR, or a clearly stated airflow rating in cubic feet per minute. CADR is especially useful because it reflects particle-removal performance rather than simply the speed of the fan. Manufacturers do not always report CADR for every commercial unit, so compare equivalent, documented airflow figures when necessary.
Then consider air changes per hour, or ACH. In plain terms, ACH estimates how many times the purifier can process the volume of air in a room each hour. A quiet reception room with two calm dogs has a very different need than a 20-run kennel wing after outdoor play. For active dog-care areas, more frequent air turnover is generally more useful than buying a smaller unit rated for the room’s square footage on paper.
To make a practical estimate, multiply the room’s length, width, and ceiling height to find its cubic footage. Divide the purifier’s airflow in cubic feet per minute by that room volume, then multiply by 60. The result is the approximate hourly air changes from that machine at the selected fan speed.
