An air purifier moves room air through filters. A good unit for a kennel, daycare, veterinary waiting room, or busy home typically uses mechanical filtration to capture airborne particles such as hair fragments, dander, dust, and pollen. An ozone generator works differently. It intentionally produces ozone, a reactive gas. What Air Purifiers Can Actually Help With
Dog hair is the most visible part of the problem, but much of what affects air quality is smaller. A properly sized air purifier can continuously reduce that particle load.

Why Ozone Is a Poor Fit for Daily Dog Areas
The appeal of ozone is understandable. The problem is that ozone is not selective. Its reactive nature is what makes it potentially useful for odor treatment and what makes it unsafe to breathe.
Dogs may be especially difficult to protect in a typical facility because they cannot communicate early respiratory discomfort or move themselves out of an exposure area. Puppies, senior dogs, brachycephalic breeds, and animals with respiratory conditions deserve added caution. Staff exposure matters too, particularly in businesses where cleaning and facility maintenance happen every day.
Ozone also does not remove physical sources of odor. It does not capture hair, dander, dust, urine residue, or organic buildup from surfaces. If soiled flooring, porous wall material, drains, soft goods, or HVAC components remain untreated, the smell can return when the underlying source is still present.
Ozone can also react with materials and chemicals already in the room. Build an Odor-Control System, Not a Single-Device Fix

Enzymatic cleaners can be helpful for organic accidents when used according to their directions and given enough contact time.

Commercial dryers, washable flooring, properly maintained drains, and sensible airflow are facility investments because they reduce the conditions that let odors linger.
Then use filtration as continuous support. An air purifier is especially valuable after source cleaning because it keeps collecting what is still moving through the room. It can also make daily operations more comfortable for staff and clients who are sensitive to pet dander or dust.
Finally, inspect the building when the odor does not respond to normal cleaning. A recurring musty or animal odor may point to moisture behind a wall, a compromised subfloor, a dirty HVAC component, poorly cleaned enclosure seams, or textiles that need replacement. No machine should be expected to compensate for a maintenance problem.

For the average dog household, choose an air purifier with a washable or replaceable pre-filter, true HEPA filtration, and enough carbon to support odor control. Run it consistently in the room where the dog spends the most time, and keep up with vacuuming, laundering, and routine bathing.
For daycare, boarding, and veterinary environments, think in zones. A large open play area, an intake lobby, an isolation room, and a grooming room have different loads and different air needs.
